Dancer FAQ & Instructions
1. How do I build my Dancer Profile?
You build your profile by claiming your awards! Search for your dance studio on the homepage, browse through the event results, and look for your routines. When you find one, click the green "+ Add Me" button next to the routine name.
2. How do I claim an award for the first time?
When you click "+ Add Me" for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your Name and Birthday. This creates your official Dancer Profile.
Next, you will be asked for a Studio Secret Code. Because awards are legally affiliated with the studio that registered them, you must obtain this 6-character secret code directly from your Studio Director or Dance Teacher. Enter it to submit your claim!
3. What is my Dancer Unique ID?
After you successfully submit your first claim using your Name and Birthday, the system will auto-generate a Unique Dancer ID (e.g., 1a2b3c4d-your-name) and show it to you in a green alert box. You can always find this ID on your public profile URL or inside your personal Dancer Dashboard.
Why is this ID important? To protect your privacy, studio owners cannot search for your name globally. If you change studios, or if you take classes at a secondary studio, you must provide your new Studio Director with your Unique ID. They can use it to instantly link your profile to their roster!
(Coming soon: You will also be able to link yourself to a new studio directly from your Dancer Dashboard by entering the Studio's Unique ID!)
4. What do the colored badge statuses mean?
When you look at an award, you might see your name with different colors:
- Pending Verification You have claimed the award, but your Studio Director has not yet logged in to approve it.
- Verified (Blue Link) Your Studio Director has approved your claim! Your name is now a clickable link that leads straight to your public Dancer Profile.
5. Smart Auto-Backfill
We know claiming every single award at a competition can be tedious. That's why we built Smart Auto-Backfill. When you claim one award for a routine, our system automatically searches the entire event and submits a claim for you on every other award won by that exact same routine at that exact same competition!
6. Privacy Notice
To protect the privacy of our dancers, full studio rosters are completely hidden from the public. Your name will only appear publicly on the specific awards you have claimed, or on your standalone Dancer Profile if you share the link.
7. What if I competed as an Independent?
If you registered and competed without a studio affiliation, the competition likely listed you as "Independent". You can find all of your awards by searching for the "Independent" studio on the homepage and claiming them from there!
